                      Gary Lawrence

We are fortunate to have those among us who have provided inspirational leadership and given of themselves to better our community. In honor of these Lubbock heroes, the Lubbock Area Foundation hosts its Annual Hero's Luncheon.

The 2010 Hero’s Luncheon has two distinct purposes:

  • To honor Gary Lawrence for his community vision, leadership and commitment to fostering economic growth in Lubbock and the South Plains area; and

  • To establish a permanent endowment at the Lubbock Area Foundation in his name.  Gary has chosen to advise the Foundation on the use of this endowment, extending his leadership and vision into the philanthropic sector on a permanent basis.

Heroes

Over a hundred years ago, a few determined men and women came here with little more than their names. Their hard work and determination prepared the way for generations to come and are the foundation on which the way of life we enjoy today is based. In every generation there are heroes who further the vision of those early pioneers-heroes like Gary Lawrence.

Past Hero's Luncheon honorees include Congressman Larry Combest, sculptress Glenna Goodacre, former TTU Chancellor John Montford, United Supermarkets,  Delbert & Carolyn McDougal,  Senator Robert Duncan, U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, Carolyn Lanier,  Karin McKay and Abner Euresti, and J.C.
