GRANTMAKING
PROGRAMS
The Levelland Area
Endowment, founded in 2007 to benefit Levelland
and Hockley County, manages charitable endowment
funds. Beginning in 2009 these endowments will
provide grants to nonprofit organizations and educational
programs to carry on their work in our community.
Who
Do We Fund?
Grantmaking policy and grant award
recommendations are made by the Levelland Area Endowment
Advisory Board. The Endowment restricts its support to
organizations in Hockley County which are 501(c)(3) or the government equivalent. Grants
may be made for start-up funding, general operating support,
program support and demonstration programs. The Endowment
does not make grants to individuals, for political purposes,
to retire indebtedness or for payment of interest or taxes.
All grant recipients must report on the expenditure of grant
funds and results of the supported project within one year
of the award. Grant amounts may vary depending on the type
of fund from which resources are provided. Grant
applications are reviewed throughout the year. Contact the
Endowment for deadlines.
The
Process
The Levelland Area Endowment offers multiple opportunities
for the consideration of grant proposals with submission
deadlines on the 1st day of every other month (January, March,
May, July, September, November). After we receive your complete proposal, copies will be provided
to the Advisory Board who will review and provide
comments. Additional information or a site visit may be requested.
The Grants Committee will make recommendations to the Advisory
Board. You will be notified of the Board's decision as
soon as possible after the Board meeting at which your
application is considered.

The Levelland
Area Endowment wants you to know about a program
offered by the Lubbock Area Foundation specifically for K-12 schools in the South Plains
area including both public and private schools. The intent of
this program is to provide small grants to elementary and secondary
school teachers to enable them to try out creative teaching
techniques and buy enriching teaching materials which are not
supported by school budgets. Teachers in Hockley
County are encouraged to apply!
