South Plains Disaster Recovery Fund

PURPOSE

The Lubbock Area Foundation has joined forces with the South Plains Association of Governments (SPAG) to launch the South Plains Disaster Recovery FundThis initiative gives area residents an easy and effective way to aid relief efforts related to disasters that affect communities in the South Plains.  In 2011, wildfires have caused widespread destruction and have exhausted the limited resources of our volunteer fire departments.

100% OF EVERY 2011 DONATION WILL GO TO LOCAL VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENTS and is tax-deductible.  The South Plains Disaster Recovery Fund will ensure that financial support is quickly and effectively made available to these emergency response agencies.  We must continue to count on for help from our emergency responders when South Plains communities are at risk and we need to assure that they have the resources to do so.  Because a Disaster Declaration has not been made (and is not expected), we cannot count on funds from the State or from FEMA to meet these needs.

Our regional volunteer fire departments are currently in desperate need of funding to replace equipment and supplies that have been damaged or lost in fighting the recent wildfires. Individuals, businesses and civic organizations wishing to help replace equipment and help to cover tremendous unexpected expenses related to fuel costs, food and hydration supplies that are necessary to keep our volunteer firefighters prepared for current and future emergencies.
